Volunteer at YWCA of Asheville

We need YOU to VOLUNTEER!

At the YWCA of Asheville, we eliminate racism and empower women by providing programs and advocacy for over 3,000 community members annually in Western North Carolina with services that support families, promote holistic wellness, and advance racial justice.

Thank you for wanting to share your time and talents with the YWCA! As a volunteer, you are integral to the YWCA fulfilling our mission, and we simply couldn’t do it without your help and support.

YWCA Asheville has volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. We can design volunteer assignments to fit your schedule, experience, and team-building goals.

Please note that due to the impact of Hurricane Helene on programs and staffing, volunteer opportunities are limited at this time.

Open Volunteer Positions ↘

  • Kitchen Assistant *URGENT NEED*

Due to the impact that Helene has had on our staffing, we are seeking URGENT support for this role. The kitchen assistant supports kitchen safety and sanitation for the YWCA’s Early Learning Program. Responsibilities include washing dishes, food carts and overall cleaning of the kitchen, mopping and sweeping after service. Ability to do early morning shifts required. Must have clear and up to date state background check ready to present, or willingness to undergo one.

  • Facilities/Health & Wellness Support

Support our Facilities team by removing trash from the YW campus grounds, and landscaping in the front and back garden beds. Additionally, Health & Wellness is seeking support with weekly or bi-weekly washing of yoga blankets. Other duties as assigned. Flexible time commitment, ideally once a week.

  • Community Connector

Community Connectors have one of the most important and valued volunteer roles at the YWCA. Empower Hours are the primary way that new people are introduced to the work of the YWCA. By inviting guests to Empower Hour, Community Connectors help the YWCA build strong connections in the community, widen our circle of members, volunteers, and supporters, and provide vital community support for our programs.

Community Connectors have a passion for sharing the mission of the YWCA of Asheville: eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Ideally, Community Connectors have attended at least one Empower Hour before hosting. Contact Development@ywcaofasheville.org to take an Empower Hour Tour.

  • Administrative Support

We are seeking support with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing the organization of the mail room and supplies. Other duties as assigned. This is an opportunity with a flexible time commitment.

  • Women's Empowerment

Support the YWCA’s Women’s Empowerment Programming by volunteering with the Getting Ahead program, which aims to provide financial empowerment for low-income women of all ages and backgrounds to make choices that positively impact themselves, their families and their community. Flexible time commitment.

The YWCA also offers Sustainability, Communications, Events, Advocacy and Racial Justice volunteer opportunities. Please reach out if you have skills that you would like to share!
