* Español Abajo*The 2019 Stand Against Racism will be taking place April 25th - 28th and this year’s theme is No Hate, No Fear. This year, we will be focusing on immigration and racism, and the ways in which they intersect. We know that immigrant justice is racial justice, and that xenophobia, bigotry, and racism is continuing to impact the lives and safety of our communities. With ongoing attacks on immigrants taking place in our communities across the country, and with continued xenophobic rhetoric and sentiment amplified across huge media platforms that we engage with every day, we feel like this topic is incredibly timely, appropriate, and relevant for this year’s campaign. Your event can be any size and take place anywhere. You can even register a private event with your family, organization or religious group. Once you register your event, you will get access to a digital toolkit that includes everything you need to plan your event, and your event will be added to our national map.Get inspiration for planning your event by checking out what other groups are doing for Stand Against Racism. Registered events can be viewed on the SAR website's interactive map.Take the Pledge to Stand Against RacismTake a pledge to join YWCA and hundreds of thousands of people across the country to stand against racism, today and every day.Educational EventsHost a film screening, panel discussion or local speaker. Host an inspirational rally to raise public awareness, put pressure on local decision makers or take local action.A Day of SupportA day of support can be as simple as having employees at a business or students at a school wear “Stand Against Racism” t-shirts or buttons. Put up Stand Against Racism posters or create a sign in front of your building that says, “We stand against racism with the YWCA.”Contact your Elected Officials and Members of CongressHelp ensure that we hold local Elected Officials and Congress accountable for taking steps to address racism and xenophobia and improve the quality of life for immigrants, women and communities of color. Demand policy solutions including: ending any and all participation in 287(g) agreements, passage of The Dream Act, an end to family separation and an immediate reunification of families, an end to detention of children and families, an end to the "zero-tolerance" policy, trauma-informed care for impacted children and families, oversight and accountability, safety and support for victims of violence, and an end to policies and practices that criminalize people of color.Donate to and/or Volunteer with Immigrant Justice GroupsYou can find a link to national Immigrant Justice organizations here.
